If you’re a driver for a company like Lyft or Uber, you may get stressed out from time to time. You need to know how to better manage your stress so you can give your customers a better experience. Here are some tips so you can work on stress management.
First of all, you have to know what stress can do to you when you’re working as a ride share professional. Mainly when you’re stressed, you’re not going to be able to interact with the people that you’re giving rides to. You’re going to be thinking about what is stressing you out and that is going to be what you focus on instead of giving someone a good experience when they are getting a ride from you. You want to clear up your stress so you can more easily interact with people so they know that you are listening and are there to provide them with the best services possible.
One way to deal with stress while you’re driving is to listen to music that you like. But, when you pick someone up know that they may not like your music so you should at least turn it down before they get into the vehicle. Between rides you can turn your music back on and jam out while you’re driving so you can let some of your stress out that way. And, you may even find people you’re driving that like what you like which gives you something to talk about with them.
When someone gets into your vehicle that you’re going to drive somewhere, make sure you speak with them about something that is a neutral topic that can’t offend them. You don’t want to, for instance, start to talk about how you dislike the person running your country because they may like that person and then will end up not liking getting a ride from you. It would be better to talk about something like the weather in the area at the time or something along those lines. If they want to talk politics or anything like that, be sure you don’t say anything offensive about what they believe in.
Stress can be caused if you’re not making enough money to cover your bills. If this is something you’re always having to worry about, then you need to work more hours so you have more money. And, you need to see what you can do to get more tips so you’re making more per ride when you’re working for a ride share type of company. When you want to get tips you can always do things like offer to play whatever music someone would like to hear or be a good listener when someone is having a bad day.
See a psychiatrist about stress and you may be able to get medications that help with it. However, make sure you ask about whether the medications will make it harder for you to drive or not because some can cause problems with that. If you’re going to get on medications you my also want to start seeing a therapist too so you can tell them about your issues. You don’t want to keep things bottled up for too long or they will start to cause you problems and make you even more stressed out than you already were.
Uber and Lyft drivers need to work with stress management if they want to be effective. If you’re someone that does work for these companies, work hard on living a more stress free life. That way, you can be there for your customers and get better reviews.
